Lacson: Yearly ‘pork battle’ is on

MANILA, Philippines — “The yearly ‘pork battle’ is on. Gloves are off once more.”

“It’s time to lose some friends and create more enemies. I’ll be busy blocking trolls again. I never learn,” Senator Panfilo Lacson said on Twitter on Tuesday.

Citing information from several lawmakers, Lacson earlier disclosed an alleged plan to give congressmen P700 million allocation each and an additional P1.5 billion each for all 22 deputy speakers at the House of Representatives.

This, he said, could amount to P54 billion “pork” for 300 congressmen if the plan pushes through.

“I hope that does not push through because that was a report transmitted to my office by some congressmen themselves na ‘yan pinag-usapan nila (that’s what they agreed on),” he told reporters Monday.

Some congressmen have urged Lacson to reveal his sources. /je
