LUCENA CITY –– Three motorists were killed and one was injured when a wayward truck collided with a jeepney in Lopez town in Quezon province on Monday afternoon, police said.
The Manila-bound wing van cargo truck was negotiating the diversion road when its driver Randy Resos lost control of his vehicle and overturned in Barangay Danlagan around 4:30 p.m., Major Leon Divino, Lopez police chief, said in a report.
The wayward truck then crashed into a passing modified passenger jeepney driven by Arden Erivera.
Erivera and his three passengers Francisco Balinado, Joy Quintao, and Cascmer Balindog were pinned down under their trampled vehicle and suffered serious injuries.
Rescuers rushed the victims to Magsaysay Memorial Hospital but Erivera, Quintao, and Balindog died on the way to the hospital.
Balinado was confined at the hospital for treatment.
Police said the truck driver lost control of the vehicle because of speeding. /lzb
