Suspected Abu Sayyaf man facing murder raps falls in Zamboanga

MANILA, Philippines – Police have arrested a suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf Group in Zamboanga City who has been wanted for cases of two counts of murder and attempted murder.

An initial report from the Zamboanga City Police on Tuesday identified the 32-year-old suspect as Amran Dala, alias Imit, who was arrested at about 10:30 p.m. on Monday by virtue of arrest warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 1 in Isabela City, Basilan.

The court recommended no bail for his arrest.

According to police, the suspect is allegedly a member of the Abu Sayyaf Group based in Basilan headed by its sub leader Furugi Indama.

The suspect is also a native of Basilan, but later transferred to Barangay Sta. Catalina then to Barangay Mercedes in Zamboanga City before his arrest, police said. /jpv
