LIGAO CITY — A 6-year-old child was rescued by police from his own father who took him hostage inside their house in this city on Monday, Sept. 23.

Maj. Dexter Panganiban, Albay police spokesperson, said the victim, identified only as John, was unhurt and brought to the city welfare development office after his three-hour ordeal in the hands of his father at the village of Layon.

Panganiban said the hostage drama ended with the arrest of suspect Ferdinand Osurman, 29, after negotiations with police.
