MANILA, Philippines — Education secretary Leonor Briones suspended classes of public schools and work in all Department of Education (DepEd) offices starting 3 p.m. Monday in observance of the 27th National Family Week.
“As enjoined by the National Committee on the Filipino Family, and with the impending issuance by the Office of the President, work and classes in all DepEd offices and public schools will be suspended on Monday, September 23, 2019, effective 3:00 P.M. to encourage employees and learners to spend mealtime with their families,” a memorandum signed by Briones read.
Classes and work in courts and government offices in several cities in Metro Manila were also suspended.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) said the National Family Week aims to “strengthen the Filipino family unity and relationship through meaningful celebration and promotion of Filipino values.” /je
