Drug suspect killed, another wounded in Navotas

MANILA, Philippines — A suspected drug peddler was killed while another was wounded after they reportedly traded shots with the Navotas police during an alleged buy-bust operation at midnight on Sunday.

A police report said that Edmundo Sedonio, 25, fired at operatives of the Navotas City Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Unit after he supposedly sensed he was dealing with policemen at Market 3, Navotas Fish Port Complex.

Sedonio was hit in the abdomen and taken to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

A .45-caliber firearm and eight sachets of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) were recovered from him, the police said.

His companion, Allan Tremotcha, 47, was injured but escaped, only to be later arrested at a hospital.
