MANILA, Philippines — The southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Drive to P. Ocampo in Manila will be closed to motorists on Sunday to give way for the holding of the “Run Rio Fun Run: Trilogy Leg 3 2019,” Manila Police District (MPD) said Saturday.
The MPD Traffic Enforcement Unit said the road closure will be from 12:01 a.m. to 3 a.m.
The MPD also noted that the actual closing and opening of affected roads will depend on the traffic condition.
The traffic unit also advised motorists to follow this traffic re-routing scheme to avoid heavy traffic.
- All vehicles coming from Bonifacio Drive intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Blvd. shall turn left to P. Burgos Ave. to point of destination.
- All vehicles coming from three (3) bridges (Jones, McArthur, Quezon) intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Blvd., shall go straight to Taft Ave., to point of destination.
- All vehicles traveling westbound lane of P. Burgos Ave., shall turn right to Bonifacio Drive or make a U-turn to the eastbound lane of P. Burgos Ave., to point of destination.
- All vehicles traveling westbound lane of TM Kalaw St., going to Roxas Blvd., shall turn left to MH del Pilar St., to point of destination.
- All vehicles traveling westbound lane of U.N. Ave., going to Roxas Blvd., shall turn left to MH del Pilar St., or utilize Roxas Blvd., service road to point of destination.
- All vehicles traveling westbound lane of Pres. Quirino Ave., intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Blvd., shall turn left to Adriatico St., to point of destination.
- All vehicles traveling westbound lane of P. Ocampo St., intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Blvd., shall turn left to F.B. Harrison to point of destination.
- All vehicles going to and from Manila Ocean Park / H2O Hotel and Manila Hotel shall utilize Katigbak Drive as access road.
According to its website, Run Rio Fun Run “highlights progression running leading to a full marathon.” It offers those who want to finish their first 42K with the aim of performing better at each leg. /jpv
