MANILA, Philippines—Actress and television hostess Kris Aquino has included “a loving life partner” in her Christmas wish list for her brother, the President.
“On a personal level, I wish and pray that in 2012, he finds a loving life partner; somebody who will really take care and truly love him,” Kris said Friday, during the turnover of donations from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees for people displaced by Tropical Storm Sendong in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan cities.
Kris, President Benigno Aquino III’s youngest sister, received the aid in her capacity as UNCHR’s honorary patron for Asia.
The shipment consisted of more than 10,000 blankets, 4,000 jerry cans, and more than 2,000 kitchen sets that arrived on an Emirates Airlines flight from Dubai Friday. It was the first of eight shipments to be delivered until Monday.
Kris also promised the President that she would not meddle in his personal life.
“Sana meron na talagang totoong mag-aalaga at magmamahal sa kapatid ko na pinapangako ko sa kanyang hindi ko pakikialaman (I wish there would be someone who would truly take care of and love my brother, and I promise him I would not meddle with her),” she added in an interview with reporters.
Mr. Aquino earlier said that unless a miracle happens, he will remain loveless this Yuletide.
“The reference to Coke zero is still the same,” he told journalists during the Christmas Party of the Bulong Pulungan forum recently.
Mr. Aquino had earlier likened his love life to “Coke zero,’’ the variant of a soft drink that contains no sugar.
The love life of the President has become a matter of public scrutiny. His elder sister, Ballsy, earlier expressed the wish that the President be given the time and space to date and go out with friends without the public eye sharply following him.
But more than a love life, Kris said she also wishes her brother strength and “the belief that he is on the right path.”
“He has been through a lot these past few months, whether in matters concerning politics or our kababayan (countrymen), but he managed to remain steadfast. Pinabilib niya talaga ko (I really admire him),” she said.
Asked about her Christmas gift to the President, Kris said she pledged to provide a year’s supply of milk for some 150 wards of Don Bosco orphanage.
“We’re supporting the orphanage’s feeding program on behalf of P-Noy. That’s our gift to him on a larger scale,” she said. “But the two kids also prepared a simple gift for him. They’re giving him sports shirts which he could use when he goes around.”
