Drug suspect killed in shootout with Pasay cops

MANILA, Philippines — A drug suspect was shot dead after a brief gunfight with police officers during a buy-bust operation in Pasay City on early Friday morning.

Police identified the suspect as Jeffery Pilapil, alias Tambok, about 35 to 40 years of age.

Based on the report, the suspect sold shabu to an undercover policeman in Barangay 41, Zone 1 at around 1 a.m. Pilapil, who later sensed that the buyer was a plainclothes officer,  opened fire at the lawman.

The policeman, however, dodged the bullet while other police officers of Pasay City police station’s Drug Enforcement Team retaliated, hitting Pilapil.

The suspect died before the arrival of the  Pasay Rescue Team.

Recovered from the scene were .38 revolver; 10 sachets of suspected shabu; P300 worth of marked money; P1,100 worth of cash; and one fired cartridge case of caliber 9mm handgun.
