Cabahug bags 2 novice crowns in Racing Line Reg’l Underbone

TOP RIDER Keken Cabahug of the Honda Motorworld Race Team continued his successful comeback story as he claimed two crowns in the novice class races in the first leg of the Racing Line Regional Underbone Grand Prix held last weekend at the Kart Zone circuit in brgy. Panagdait, Cebu City.

A total of 120 riders participated in the race but the spotlight shone brightly on Cabahug, who with his victories, now leads the race for the 2011 Rider of the Year.

Cabahug leaned on a good start in the novice 130 but had to hold off Manila ace Rizaldy Canare of Replica Pro for the crown.

The final race of the Novice Open 4-Stroke, though, was a different story as Cabahug was engrossed in a three-way battle with Canare and teammate Gary Cañeda in the event’s elite race.

The Honda ace was leading until the fourth lap when Canare grabbed the lead behind some gritty racing.

Cabahug regained the driver’s seat after two laps and had Cañeda to thank for for the win as the latter held his line down the stretch to help the former secure the win.

The beginner’s class saw Tonglee Cabrera of X-Racing grab two wins—the Beginner’s 130 and the Pioneer Mighty Gasket 4AT-Scooter 160 Beginners. He is now poised to win the 2011 Rookie of the Year award.

Albert Cabucos of Cyrus Racing also had a successful run in the 100-125 Super Stock Beginners and Novice as he bested teammate Erik Gjengaar for the title. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
