Last minute surrender of convicts in Laguna, Batangas

SAN PEDRO CITY – Two more heinous crime convicts surrendered to authorities a day before the 15-day deadline set by President Duterte ended Thursday.

In Laguna, a murder convict surrendered to the police station in Mabitac town around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

He was accompanied by the chair of Barangay Lucong.

He was released from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntilupa City through the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) on December 9, 2016. He was supposed to serve 14 years in prison.

In Batangas, another convict turned himself in to police on Wednesday in Sto. Tomas City.

He, too, was accompanied by village chair Nemesio Cailao of Barangay San Jose when he went to the police station around 11:30 a.m.

He was convicted of homicide in 2013. He was released last May 9 through the GCTA. /lzb
