LEGAZPI CITY –– The Department of Agriculture has activated quick response teams in Bicol to prevent African Swine Fever (ASF) from entering the region.
Dr. Josefina Banadera, animal health coordinator of DA in Bicol, said that at present, the hog industry in the region showed no records of ASF.
She said local governments and government and private agencies, were doing their parts to avoid ASF.
“Everyone is being proactive to prevent it (ASF) from entering (the region),” she said.
She said quarantine guards were also deployed in the region’s entry points.
Workshops were also being conducted in the villages to inform people about ASF.
Spraying of disinfectants on backyard hog farms were also being done. /lzb
