The state weather bureau said that as of 3 p.m., Thursday, Nimfa was located 745 kilometers east northeast of Basco town in Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 70 kph.
While the storm has a low chance of making landfall, the storm continues to move slowly to the northeast direction and is expected to exit PAR on Saturday.
Nimfa’s trough or extension will affect the Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and parts of Ilocos Region.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area near Sto. Tomas, La Union was also spotted and might merge with the trough of Nimfa in the next 48 hours, Pagasa said.
The southwest monsoon will likewise continue to prevail in Luzon and Visayas, bringing light to moderate, with occasionally heavy rain showers, in Pangasinan, Palawan, Mindoro provinces, and parts of Central Luzon.
Light to moderate rains with intermittent heavy rain showers are also expected over Metro Manila, Bicol region, Calabarzon, parts of Mimaropa, and Western Visayas.
