MANILA, Philippines – Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and monsoon rains are expected in vast parts of Luzon on Wednesday due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat” and the trough or extension of Tropical Depression Nimfa.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that cloudy skies with scattered rain showers due to the trough of “Nimfa” will prevail in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos region
Similar conditions are forecast in Metro Manila, Bicol region, Western Visayas, Calabarzon and Mimaropa region due to the “habagat”, Pagasa added.
In Central Luzon and the provinces of Mindoro and Palawan, monsoon rains are expected also due to the “habagat” and a low-pressure area in the vicinity of San Jose, Tarlac.
The Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Pagasa said “Nimfa” was last spotted at 670 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 70kph. /gsg
