27 Makati public schools equipped with CCTV cameras
MANILA, Philippines — The Makati local government has installed over 1,000 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in public schools in the city to improve security and ensure the safety of students.
In a report to Mayor Abby Binay, Lauro Reyes, head of the city’s Department of Engineering and Public Works, said his office had installed 1,176 CCTV cameras in 25 public elementary schools and two high schools, as well as in the division office of the Department of Education in Makati City.
Of the cameras installed, 962 were dome while 214 were bullet CCTV cameras.
Dome cameras are more covert and can rotate 360 degrees although they are suitable only for short-range surveillance. Bullet cameras, on the other hand, are usually weatherproof and have a longer range, making these ideal for viewing large areas such as sprawling backyards and parking lots.
Reyes reported that in the first district, CCTV cameras were installed in Bangkal High School and 12 elementary schools: Bangkal Main, F. Benitez III, F. Benitez Main, Jose Magsaysay, La Paz, Makati, Maximo Estrella, Nicanor Garcia, Palanan, Gen. Pio del Pilar I, Gen. Pio del Pilar Main and San Antonio.
In the second district, the recipients were Makati Science High School and 13 elementary schools: Cembo, Comembo, East Rembo, Fort Bonifacio, Guadalupe Viejo, Nemesio Yabut, Pembo, Pitogo, Rizal, San Jose, South Cembo, Tibagan and West Rembo.
