MANILA, Philippines—The southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring rain to Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Western Visayas on Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In its weather update issued 4 a.m. Monday, Pagasa said there will be cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Western Visayas.
Flash floods or landslides may occur in the said areas due to occasional heavy rains, Pagasa warned.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms
The weather state bureau is currently monitoring three weather systems:
- A shallow low pressure area located 410 km west of Zambales.
- A tropical storm located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was located 2,565 km east of Northern Luzon. It has maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. With its movement of 30kph northwest, it is not expected to enter PAR.
- A low pressure area, previously known as Tropical Depression Marilyn, may possibly return to PAR in the next 48 hours. The LPA is located 1,935 km northeast of Basco, Batanes as of early Monday morning.
