MANILA, Philippines — A total of four kilos of shabu with an estimated amount of P27.2 million was seized by police authorities during a buy-bust operation in Quezon City on Sunday.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said in a report that the operation led to the death of Edgardo Alfonso, the alleged drug dealer.
Report also showed that the operation was conducted in coordination with the Quezon City Police District and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Authorities.
According to the report, Alfonso sensed that he was transacting with authorities, thus he “shot the undercover agent” and fled the scene.
Authorities then had an exchange of gunfire with the suspect that led to Alfonso’s death in the operation.
Seized from Alfonso were four pieces of transparent zip lock plastic bags containing around one kilo of shabu for each plastic; P1.5 million buy-bust money; one caliber .45 pistol; assembly magazine for the said firearms; and ammunition and spent shells of caliber .45.
The NCRPO said that Alfonso was one among the targets of intensive anti-illegal drugs operations and was a member of syndicated criminal gang operating illegal drug trade in Metro Manila. /je
