LUCENA CITY — Two ex-convicts released through the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) law surrendered separately to the police in Tiaong and Mauban towns in Quezon province on Saturday, police said.

Santiago Carugal, 46, a resident of Barangay (village) Lusacan, Tiaong; and Danilo Almacen, 58, a resident of Barangay Lual Barrio in Mauban, voluntarily surrendered themselves, Col. Audie Madrideo, Quezon police chief, said in a report.

Carugal was convicted in 2000 on charges of robbery with homicide and was released on February 26, 2019. Almacen was released on August 12, 2016. His supposed crime and year of conviction were not stated in the police report.

Both were temporarily under the custody of the police stations. /je
