Parts of Visayas, Luzon to have rain showers due to ‘habagat’

MANILA, Philippines — Some parts of Visayas and Luzon areas will have gloomy weather on Sunday due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” the state weather bureau said.

According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Zambales and Bataan would have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

Possible flash floods and landslides should be expected by residents of the said areas due to occasional heavy rains.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers but due to localized thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

Tropical Depression “Marilyn,” meanwhile, already exited the Philippine area of Responsibility on Saturday night.

It also has weakened into a low pressure area, Pagasa said. /je
