UPDATE: Metro trains resume operations

MANILA, Philippines — Train operations halted by two earthquakes that rattled Metro Manila have resumed, officials said Friday evening.
Operations of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1), Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) and the Philippine National Railway (PNR) resumed Friday evening after it was temporarily suspended due to earthquake.
A 5.5-magnitude quake struck off Burdeos town on Polillo Island in Quezon province at 4:28 p.m. It was followed by a 4.7 magnitude tremor that occurred at 5:18 p.m.
The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 resumed operations at 5:29 p.m., after a thorough inspection of its facilities.

It earlier resumed its operations at 4:57 p.m. but suspended it again after an aftershock occurred.

Meanwhile, the Light Rail Transit Line 1 trains began running again at 4:50 p.m. after imposing a “hold position” and subsequently a low-speed motion for its trains immediately after the quake swayed buildings and structures in Metro Manila.
The LRT-2 resumed normal operations 7:15 p.m., over two hours after it suspended services.

The PNR also resumed operations at 6:50 p.m. after the management gave assurances that Pandacan bridge was safe.
“We just certified Pandacan Bridge safe, we will resume Gov. Pascual-Tutuban FTI service,” PNR General Manager Junn Magno said.
