Tropical Depression ‘Marilyn’ forces class suspensions in Quirino, Isabela towns

DIFFUN, Quirino –– Classes in five towns in Quirino province were suspended on Friday due to the heavy rains caused by Tropical Depression “Marilyn.”

Jesusa Leal, Quirino provincial disaster risk reduction management officer, said the towns of Diffun, Saguday, Cabarroguis and Nagtipunan had suspended classes at all levels.

Aglipay town had also suspended classes from elementary to high school for both public and private schools.

The class suspensions came after incessant rains caused rivers to swell, flooding low-lying farms and villages.

In Isabela province, San Mariano town Mayor Edgar Go also suspended classes on Friday after some rivers overflowed and caused flooding.

The water level in Pinacanauan, Cagayan, and Magat rivers also rose, flooding the Baculod and Cabiseria 8 bridges in Ilagan, Banquero bridge in Reina Mercedes and Alicaocao bridge in Cauayan./lzb
