Pampanga mayor suspended for 90 days

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO –– The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Thursday served a 3-month suspension order against Masantol town Mayor Danilo Guintu as the penalty for abuse of authority.

The suspension was handed down by the Deputy Ombudsman for Luzon through a resolution dated Oct. 19, 2018, according to DILG Pampanga director Myrvi Apostol-Fabia in a memorandum to Masantol Vice Mayor Epifanio Lacap.

The administrative case stemmed from a complaint by Bernardo Guevarra, a vendor in the town’s public market.

Guintu had appealed his case. He did not oppose the serving of the order./lzb
