Drug suspect slain in shootout with Benguet cops
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet –– A suspected drug dealer was killed after reportedly fighting it out with policemen around midnight on Tuesday.
Investigators identified the slain drug suspect as Hilario Viduya Pineda who had been under police surveillance for allegedly selling “shabu” (crystal meth) in Baguio City and Benguet province.
Police said Pineda was caught selling shabu to an undercover agent who used fake money during the buy-bust operation.
When the suspect noticed that he was given counterfeit bills, he drew his firearm and shot at the undercover agent but missed.
The undercover agent shot back and killed Pineda on the spot. Kimberlie Quitasol /lzb
