Korean nabbed for ‘shoplifting’ chocolates in Cavite

SAN PEDRO CITY – A Korean national was arrested in Bacoor City, Cavite after being caught stealing chocolates in a convenience store.

Lt. Col. Vicente Cabatingan, Bacoor City police chief, said in a phone interview Wednesday, that they would coordinate with immigration authorities regarding the status of the suspect, Young Jun Han.

Cabatingan said Young was arrested around 6 p.m. Tuesday for “shoplifting” chocolates in a convenience store in Barangay Niog 2.

“While checking our records, it turned out that there was a warrant of arrest issued against (Young) in 2017,” he said.

He said at the time, the foreign national also allegedly stole sweets from a store inside a mall in Bacoor City.

Cabatingan said it was not yet clear how long Young had been in the Philippines as he was still undergoing police investigation.

“What he had told us (so far) was that (he began stealing chocolates) after his girlfriend left him,” he said./lzb
