MANILA, Philippine — The chief inquest prosecutor of the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court, Elmer Susano, survived a slay attempt by four motorcycle-riding gunmen on Tuesday afternoon.
Susano was in his Toyota Hilux pick-up truck at the corner of 9th Avenue and B. Serrano Street when the assailants attacked at around 3 p.m.
He had just left a restaurant where he is a regular customer. It was possible that the gunmen had been lying in wait for the prosecutor, Col. Noel Flores, chief of the Caloocan City Police Station, said.
Susano’s pick-up truck, being bulletproof, allowed him to escape unharmed.
The assailants, who were on two motorcycles, gave chase but eventually retreated.
The prosecutor fled towards Edsa.
The gunmen used high-powered firearms. Recovered from the scene were 13 spent casings.
Flores said police officers were deployed in the area after the incident.
He added that police were still investigating the motive behind the ambush.
