MANILA, Philippines – Cloudy skies and scattered rains showers are expected in parts of Luzon on Tuesday due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat”, the weather bureau said.
In its daily weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies and scattered rains over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Ilocos region, and Cagayan Valley.
Meanwhile, monsoon rains are expected in the Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Luzon.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, Pagasa said.
The weather bureau warned of possible flash floods or landslides in affected areas.
Wind speed in Luzon is expected to be moderate to strong coming from the southwest, with moderate to rough coastal waters.
In the Visayas and Mindanao, Pagasa said wind speeds will be light to moderate moving southwest to west while coastal conditions will be slight to moderate.
Pagasa is also monitoring a low pressure area, which was last spotted115 kilometers west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. /gsg
