CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela –– Four crime convicts, who were earlier released due to the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) law, surrendered to Isabela police on Friday.
Police Col. Mariano Rodriguez, Isabela police director, said the four belong to the 17 crime convicts in Isabela who were freed from prison.
President Duterte this week ordered the freed convicts to surrender to the nearest police station or the military.
If they failed to do so within 15 days from Wednesday, September 4, they would be considered fugitives.
Rodriguez said two of the convicts, who surrendered in this province, were convicted sex offenders and turned themselves in to police in the towns of Echague and Jones, respectively.
One man, who had a double murder case, surrendered in Ilagan City and the other one, convicted of robbery with homicide case, turned himself in to Alicia town police.
They were brought to hospitals for medical examination and later underwent booking procedures before they were turned over to the jail authorities.
Rodriguez has ordered police to track down the other convicts. He called on the freed convicts to personally turn themselves in to the police./lzb
