Drug convict released for good conduct surrenders to Pasay police

MANILA, Philippines — A day after President Rodrigo Duterte made the call for the surrender of heinous crime convicts released for good conduct, a man convicted of a drug-related case surrendered to the Pasay City Police on Thursday.

Pasay City Police chief Col. Bernard Yang, in a text message said the drug convict was released on July 11, 2019 from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao del Norte based on a memorandum issued by then Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Chief Nicanor Faeldon.

Yang said the convict was sentenced to life imprisonment on June 3, 1993 by the Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 116 for violation of Section 15 or the Sale, Administration, Delivery, Transportation, and Distribution of Regulated Drugs under Republic Act No. 6425 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 1972.  /muf
