DIGOS CITY –– What seemed like a tire explosion turned out to be a gun attack that killed a tricycle driver waiting for passengers along Sta. Ana road in Barangay Tres de Mayo here around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Lt. Colonel John Wasit, information officer of the provincial police office, identified the victim as Phil Fritz Estanzo Yamono, 31, a resident of Estrada 4th Street, Barangay Zone 2.

He was declared dead on arrival at a government hospital due to a single bullet that pierced through his right chest.

Wasit said Yamono’s killer and the motive of the attack were still unknown.

FEATURED STORIES

Yamono’s killing was the second murder case in the city in two weeks, which is unusual in this relatively peaceful capital of Davao del Sur.

Last August 22, motorcycle-riding gunmen also shot dead a call center agent in Barangay San Miguel. /lzb
