ILIGAN CITY — One person was dead and two others were seriously wounded in a shooting in the hinterland village of Candis, some 20 kilometers from the Tubod town proper, on Wednesday (Sept. 4) in yet another gun attack that seemed to defy martial law in Mindanao.

Maj. Salman Saad, spokesperson of the Lanao del Norte police office, identified the slain man as Babai Mamao, 49, a resident of Barangay Bulacon of Salvador town, and the two wounded victims as Alimoden Mamao, 58, and a woman known only as Adrilyn.

Alimoden is husband of Babai, while Adrilyn just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The Mamao couple were on board a motorcycle going to the town proper when they were fired upon by motorcycle-riding gunmen, according to Saad.
