Pasig signs deal with DOH to fund medical assistance for indigent patients

MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Pasig City signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on Wednesday with Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) to provide additional funds to the city’s hospitals.

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto said the budget will provide P4 million for Pasig City General Hospital and Pasig City Children’s Hospital to help more indigent patients.

“Para naman sa medical assistance (na aminado akong kulang pa sa ngayon) kakapirma ko lang ng MOA para sa karagdagang pondo mula sa DOH para sa ating mga indigent na pasyente,” Sotto said in a tweet.

(For medical assistance, which is still insufficient, I have signed the MOA which will grant additional funds from DOH for our indigent patients.)

Under the memorandum, both Pasig hospitals are “willing to participate in the efficient and effective grant of medical assistance to poor patients.”

The memorandum also cited that DOH-MMCHD is authorized to render funds in accordance with the Department Order No. 2019-0191 dated July 2019, titled, “Guidelines on Release of Sub-Allotment/Transfer of Funds to Center for Health Development Offices, DOH-Retained,  Special Hospitals, Relative to the Implementation of Medical Assistance to Indigent Patient Program.” /je
