DRUGS WORTH P50T SEIZED

PACKS of suspected drugs worth more than P50,000 were recovered from a man arrested in a buy-bust operation in barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

Police said the arrest of Reggie Botero, 30, came after a two-week surveillance. Police said Botero was allegedly a big-time drug pusher.

Found in the man’s house on A. Lopez Street were two big plastic packs of suspected shabu.

Also found in the man’s possession was a .40 pistol with eight bullets.

Operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) and Motor-cops Riding Unit (MRU) rushed to the area to maintain order after several neighbors converged in the man’s house after the raid.

ARMED MAN COLLARED

POLICE arrested a 20-year-old man who was found carrying an unlicensed firearm in barangay Lawaan 3, Talisay City, southern Cebu.

A .38 revolver with five bullets were recovered from John Dominick Abastillas.

Police rushed to sitio Villaraya after receiving a report that an armed man was spotted there past 9 p.m. last Tuesday.

KOREAN FIGURES IN ROAD MISHAP

A KOREAN national was arrested when the car he drove hit a traffic signboard in barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City, at dawn yesterday.

Kevin Wanhi, 43, who temporarily lives in Cebu City, was fined P6,000 for the traffic violation and for driving drunk, a violation of a city ordinance.

Police said Wanhi tested positive for alcohol at the Mandaue City Hospital where he was brought after the arrest.

Police said Wanhi drove a Hyundai wagon with plate number KEV-553.

The Korean hit a “no entry” signboard placed at the foot of a flyover in Maguikay.

VIDEO KARERA SEIZED IN LAPU

THREE video kareras were seized in three sitios in barangay Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City, yesterday morning.

The illegal gambling machines were seized by tanods in sitios Kulo, Malingin and Lupa.

Residents in the three sitios did not identify the owners of the machines.

Punta Engaño barangay captain Lourdes Ibag said the confiscations were made after some wives of fishermen complained to her. They said their husbands would no longer remit their earnings and instead play with the machines.

Ibag said they reported to the police the presence of the machines but they did not act on it until a search warrant is obtained.
