Classes from pre-school to junior HS suspended in Bacoor, Cavite

MANILA, Philippines – Flooding and inclement weather prompted the local government unit of Bacoor, Cavite, to suspend Monday classes (September 2, 2019) from pre-school to junior high school.

“Due to the continuing inclement weather and flooding, the City Government has ordered that classes from preschool to junior high school in both public and private schools in the City of Bacoor be suspended,” the city government said in a social media advisory.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has been monitoring Tropical Depression Liwayway inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

In its morning weather forecast, Pagasa said that as of 3 a.m., “Liwayway” was spotted 450 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 70 kph.

Liwayway may also further intensity into a tropical storm before it exits PAR later this week, Pagasa said in an earlier forecast. /gsg
