QC jail visitor nabbed for hiding ‘shabu’ in shoe

MANILA, Philippines — A 54-year-old man who tried to deliver crystal meth, locally known as “shabu,” to a jailed drug suspect was arrested on being caught hiding the illegal drug in his shoe.

The Quezon City Police District identified the suspect as Greg Sanchez, a resident of Tondo, Manila.

Sanchez went to the Batasan Police Station on Friday night to visit an inmate. The duty jailer conducted a routine inspection and found that Sanchez had 13 sachets of crystal meth in his shoe.

Sanchez told police that he was supposed to give the contraband to a certain Ma. Elena Castro, who was jailed on Aug. 5 due to an illegal drug case.
