MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and the western and central parts of Luzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorm due to southwest monsoon or “habagat,” the weather bureau said in its Friday 4:00 a.m. forecast.
Also experiencing the same condition are the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
The rest of the country meanwhile will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain brought by localized thunderstorms.
Pagasa weather specialist Gener Quitlong said are monitoring a cloud cluster over the country’s eastern side that could develop into a low-pressure area (LPA).
“Hindi pa niya nami-meet ang criteria para maging LPA pero may posibilidad po ito na within 24 hours ay magiging LPA,” (It has not yet met the criteria to turn into an LPA. But there is a possibility that it will be an LPA within the next 24 hours) he said in a 5:00 a.m. weather update.
This day’s lowest temperature was at 25.8°C recorded at 5:50 a.m. while the maximum temperature will be at 29.9°C at 11:00 a.m., according to Pagasa.
Pagasa said western Luzon will have a moderate to strong southwest wind and moderate to rough coastal waters (1.2 to 3.7 meters).
A southwest-west light to moderate wind will also prevail over rest of the country, with slight to moderate coastal water (0.6 to 2.5 meters), Pagasa added. /muf
