Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) planning to vote in the May 2020 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections have until Sept. 30 to apply for transfer of registration in their local registry, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.
The poll body said it had been receiving numerous requests from overseas voters who want to transfer their registration from their foreign posting to the local registry so they can vote in the coming elections.
The application for transfer (OVF No. 1-B) may be filed either at the Office for Overseas Voting or the Office of the Election Officer, the Comelec said.
Such applications for transfer will be approved as long as the person’s registration is included in the National Registry of Overseas Voters (NROV), the poll body added.
The application for transfer will be disapproved if the applicant’s name is not on the NROV; is filed beyond the set period; and is not filed under oath by the applicant.
Those with deactivated overseas registration for having failed to vote in two consecutive elections will be allowed to file their applications for registration locally in accordance with existing rules, the Comelec said.
