MANILA, Philippines – The Muntinlupa police is requesting data from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) that could help solve the recent murder of BuCor executive Ruperto Traya Jr., in Muntinlupa.
“Kami yung nakikipagcoordinate sa BuCor para makuha yung records [ni Ruperto Traya Jr.],” Maj. Allan Rainier Cabral, Chief Investigator of Muntinlupa police station, told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview on Thursday.
(We are now coordinating with BuCor for Ruperto Traya’s records)
Cabral said they sent a formal request to BuCor on Wednesday to secure the documents on Ruperto Traya Jr., who is a chief administrative officer 3 at the BuCor’s Inmate’s Document Processing Division.

Cabral noted that they are planning to access records of Traya’s employment in BuCor to help in their probe.
“Yung records, yung data, titignan po natin kung kailan po siya napunta sa BuCor,” Cabral said.
Cabral said the BuCor so far, has been cooperative with the police regarding Traya’s records.
“Ibibigay po nila, hindi po bin-lock [They will give the records. They won’t block it.]”
Cabral added that no link appears to connect Traya’s death with the early release of convicted murderer and rapist Calauan, Laguna mayor Antonio Sanchez and the other 11,000 inmates from New Bilibid Prison (NBP) due to their good conduct time allowance (GCTA).
“Hindi naman po nakikita sa ganung anggulo. Lahat ng documents hinahawakan ni Traya hindi lang yung sa GCTA ,” Cabral said when asked if there is relation between Traya’s killing and the release of Sanchez and other inmates in NBP.
(Traya was in charge of various documents not just the GCTA).
Cabral added that according to Traya’s wife, prior to Traya’s shooting, the family did not receive any death threats.
In a report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, BuCor spokesperson Sonny del Rosario said the BuCor’s Inmate’s Document Processing Division is tasked to collate and process all documents for the recomputation of the credits of 11,000 detainees’ GCTA. /muf
