QC police check on security in public transport terminals

The Quezon City police on Thursday began inspecting major bus terminals in the area as part of their preparations for the expected increase in the number of passengers going home to their provinces for the holidays.

Members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) led by their director, Chief Supt. George Regis, visited the Araneta Center Bus Terminal in the Cubao area as well as other bus stations on Edsa to monitor the safety and security measures being implemented by bus operators.

They also dropped by several stations of the Light Rail Transit and Metro Rail Transit located in the city.

“We expect in the coming days the exodus of our kababayans, including foreign and local tourists, who wish to spend Christmas and New Year [in] the provinces,” Regis said in a statement.

In addition to conducting inspections, the QCPD has deployed several of its men to public transport terminals to maintain peace and order.

For passengers who find themselves in an emergency or in need of police assistance, they may call the QCPD hotlines at 9258417, 4743106, 0918-7853735 or 0915-2581066.

They may also seek help from the Philippine National Police’s Patrol 117 hotline or the National Capital Region Police Office’s “Subukan N’yo Po Kami” at 0915-8888181 or 0999-9018181.

“We are in constant contact with the security officers of the public transport terminals in order to respond promptly to any call for police assistance,” Regis said.
