MANILA, Philippines — A man was killed in Las Piñas City after stabbing to death his own adopted son and neighbor on Monday afternoon.
The Las Piñas Police identified the suspect as Renan Fulgencio who killed adopted son 16-year-old Reniel Nonato and 35-year-old businessman neighbor Danilo Bilog in Barangay CAA.
The police reported that Fulgencio stabbed Nonato inside their residence before he bumped into Bilog.
Bilog tried to run away and escape but Fulgencio caught up with him and stabbed him to death before returning back to his house.
Believing that his son was still alive inside the residence, the police initially reported the incident as a hostage-taking case as they tried to negotiate with Fulgencio to surrender.
As they were about to arrest Fulgencio, the suspect reportedly attacked the police, prompting them to shoot him which led to his death.
The remains of his adopted son Nonato was later discovered inside their residence.
Meanwhile, Bilog was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The authorities are still investigating the case but are looking at jealousy as a possible motive behind the crime.
Fulgencio was allegedly jealous over the actions of his wife. No further details were released.
