Chainsaw killing: Man sliced in half by drinking buddy

TACLOBAN CITY—A 30-year old man was killed after he was sliced into half by his uncle-in-law using a chainsaw in Barangay Bool East, Culaba town, Biliran province on Sunday (Aug 25).

Lt. Isidoro Ancero, Jr., the town’s police chief, said the victim, Eduardo Rosquites , had a drinking spree with the suspect, Roger Paje, and another man, Edgardo Cañete.

Around 2 p.m., while the victim was asleep, Paje, 48, took his chainsaw and used it to slice Rosquites.

Rosquites is married to Chanderee, niece of Paje.

Ancero said an intoxicated Paje used the chainsaw to cut Rosquites from his head to his buttocks.

“It was the most gruesome murder I have ever seen,” said Ancero in a phone interview.

The motive is still unknown. Police found Paje lying on the floor of a stage at the village hall with his chainsaw at the back of the stage.
