Police said the victims aboard a 175cc motorcycle were hit by a speeding car being driven by Fernando Tobias along the opposite lane of the national road in Barangay Camaysa around 8:50 a.m.

With the strong impact, the motorcycle overturned and its riders were thrown off to the pavement.

The victims died while being taken to the Tayabas Community Hospital in the city center.

Master Sergeant Carlito Bantug Jr., Tayabas police investigator, said both victims were not wearing the mandatory crash helmets for protection.

Wearing crash helmets for all riders of two-wheeled motorized vehicles is mandated under Republic Act No. 10054, or the motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.”/lzb
