‘Ineng’ expected to leave PAR Saturday afternoon — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Severe tropical storm “Ineng” is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Saturday afternoon, the state weather bureau said.

In its 8 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Ineng” will cross the Bashi channel as it exits the PAR.

“Ineng” also accelerated as it is moves 30 kilometers per hour (kph) northwest.

The severe tropical storm was last spotted at 105 kilometers north of Basco, Batanes.

It also packed maximum sustained winds of up to 100 kph and gustiness of up to 125 kph.

Pagasa also hoisted tropical cyclone warning signal (TWCS) No. 2 in the Babuyan Islands and Batanes.

TWCS No. 1 is raised over Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Northern Abra and Ilocos Norte.

According to the state weather bureau, moderate to heavy rain may prevail over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, Cagayan (including the Babuyan Islands), Zambales, Bataan, Mindoro provinces and northern portions of Palawan.

Meanwhile, light to moderate with heavy intermittent rain is expected over Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras and the rest of Central Luzon and Cagayan Valley.  /muf
