MANILA, Philippines – The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said on Friday that it would look into the lapses of the security management of a mall in Quezon City for its involvement in the “uncoordinated” hostage-taking drill.

QCPD clarified that a viral video on Facebook showing a robbery of a motorcycle inside the mall was just a simulation of hostage-taking and anti-kidnapping.

“This pertains to the posted video that went viral on Facebook about the robbery by motorcycle riding in tandem. We would like to clarify that it was just a drill,” QCPD’s Public Information Office said in a statement.

QCPD also noted that it was the mall’s security team that initiated the drill but the latter failed to “properly” coordinate with the Galas police station.

“The said drill was not properly coordinated with the Galas Police Station (PS11) hence, we will conduct an investigation on the incident to ascertain operational lapses and possible liability of [the mall’s] security management and police personnel involved in this uncoordinated security exercise,” QCPD said.
