Quezon City police inspect bus terminals ahead of holiday exodus

MANILA, Philippines—Police began Thursday their regular inspection of major bus terminals in Quezon City as part of preparations for the exodus of denizens of the metropolis returning to their home provinces for the holidays.

Officials of the Quezon City Police District visited the Araneta Center Bus Terminal in Cubao as well as bus stations along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue or EDSA to check on the measures put in place for the safety of  passengers.

QCPD district director Chief Superintendent George Regis also personally inspected the LRT and MRT stations  within Quezon City’s jurisdiction.

“We expect in the coming days the exodus of our kababayans as well as foreign and local tourists who wish to spend Christmas and New Year in the provinces,” he said in a statement.

The QCPD deployed officers to public transport terminals to maintain peace and order as passengers rush to make it home to their provinces.

Regis assured the public that the public transport terminals have an adequate personnel in the form of policemen and watchmen to keep the commuters safe.

“We are in constant contact with the security officers of the public transport terminals in order to respond promptly to any call for police assistance,” he added.
