MANILA, Philippines — An establishment in Pasay City which had five Chinese employees was locked down on Thursday due to operating without business permits, police said.
In an initial report from Pasay City police chief Col. Bernard Yang, police officers were tasked to shut down an establishment located along Taft Avenue following a closure order issued by Pasay City government’s Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO).
Members of Pasay police’s Tactical Motorcycle Riders Units and Special Weapons and Tactics Team assisted BPLO personnel led by Noel Lucio to serve the closure order.
Upon reaching the two-storey residential building, authorities found that it was allegedly “converted into a warehouse” and was “voluntarily opened” by a certain Dionisio Co.
Police also found four Chinese men and one Chinese woman inside the building.
Yang told INQUIRER.net that they have yet to determine if the foreigners have working permits.
“That is subject to verification with the BI [Bureau of Immigration],” Yang said in a text message. /je
