DID YOU KNOW: Street Dwellers Care

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s Metropolitan Social Service Office conducts rescue operations for street dwellers and nomads in various areas in Metro Manila as part of its Street Dwellers Care program.

In 2018, it rescued 11,201 mendicants, nomads, psychotic and other street dwellers along major roads and thoroughfares.

Of this number, 3,743 of them were turned over to the Jose Fabella Center, 2,022 were discharged, 1,192 were returned to their respective barangays and 4,244 were referred to facilities like Pasig Bahay Aruga and Nayon ng Kabataan. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
