MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Tuesday honored two police officers for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Pat. Jonathan Stanley Dionisio of the Manila Police District and Cpl. Jeffrey Javier of the Southern Police District were named “Pulis Magiting” awardees of the NCRPO and Ayala Foundation.

Dionisio was cited for chasing on foot and arresting a robbery suspect at the Lagusnilad underpass in Ermita, Manila, on Aug. 2.

Javier, on the other hand, helped rescue a man who threatened to jump from a building on Quirino Avenue in Parañaque City on July 18.

‘Living testimonies’

“They are living testimonies that the NCRPO has deservedly gained a reputation as one of the most trustworthy and reliable units in the PNP,” said the NCRPO chief, Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, during the awarding ceremony held at the NCRPO headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa.

“With this program, I hope our men in police service look beyond ourselves as men in uniform, but also ordinary people who have the heart and soul to serve those in need,” he added.

The Pulis Magiting program recognizes police officers who “show love of country by performing their duties with integrity, honesty and honor, and who perform simple but truly admirable acts of daily heroism.”

It is part of the “Maging Magiting” campaign of Ayala Foundation which seeks to “highlight love of country and pride in being Filipino.”
