LEGAZPI CITY – The “tsinelas leadership” legacy of the late Jesse Robredo lives on in the leadership style of his wife, Vice President Leni Robredo, detained Senator Leila De Lima said Sunday in a message emailed to the press on the seventh death anniversary of former Department of the Interior and Local Government secretary.
De Lima said that the late cabinet member “set the bar high on good governance.”
“Humility was one of his many traits which made him an outstanding leader,” she said.
“[He] showed his genuine concern and compassion for the marginalized and empowered them to contribute to the progress of Naga.”
Before becoming the DILG secretary under the administration of President Benigno Aquino III, Robredo served as mayor of Naga City for 19 years.
Naga City marked the former mayor’s death anniversary with the launching of an art exhibit – “Jesse’s Portrait” at the Museo ni Jesse Robredo.
Vice President Robredo was present during the opening of the exhibit, which will run until October.
