THE belles of St. Theresa’s College made some noise in the 9th Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League after shocking Southwestern University in straight sets yesterday for their second victory in the tournament held at the Aznar Coliseum.
Showing grit even in the midst of adversity and the homecourt-toting Cobras, STC posted a, 25-21, 25-18 win to improve its record to 2-1. They also beat the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in straight sets, 25-9, 25-16, but lost to defending champions, Pajo National High School, 6-25, 16-25.
Pajo remains on top of bracket A with a 2-0 record while STC stays close behind. SWU fell to 1-2.
Over in bracket B, the Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School defeated University of Cebu, 25-14, 25-15 for its third win in as many games. The University of Southern Philippines Foundation remains in hot pursuit with a 2-0 mark.
The top two squads in each bracket at the end of the eliminations will march to the crossover semifinals. The champion of this tournament will represent Cebu in the Tournament of Champions next year. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
