2 Cafgu members die in clash with NPA in Abra

BAGUIO CITY – Two members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) were killed after suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels attacked a Cafgu detachment in Abra province on Thursday morning.

The communist rebels allegedly assaulted at dawn, prompting Cafgu members to exchange gunfire in Sitio Mong-ol, Maguyepyep village of Sallapadan town in Abra.

Reports identified those killed as Dandy Wacguisan of Lingey village, Bucloc, and Gordon Gallao of Bazar village, Sallapadan.

Authorities said Gallao’s leg was hit by a sniper and later died in the hospital, while Wacguisan was instantly killed during the clash./lzb
